teacher training
Pilates on 10th is excited to announce the second round of our Comprehensive Teacher Training Program starting in the fall of 2012! This year long, all-inclusive Pilates teacher training will include training on all Pilates equipment, mat and accessories beginning through advanced. We will also cover Pilates history, teaching skills and how to work with special populations. Taught in our beautiful, state of the art Pilates studio, students will be expected to complete practical, performance and written exams culminating in a certificate of completion from our studio and will be asked to take The Pilates Method Alliance exam for national certification. The cost for this program is $4500.
The course lectures run every other Friday from 5-8pm, starting Sept. 7th, and Saturday from 12-5pm ending on Jan 26th. Trainees have until Sept. 7th 2012 to complete their exams at the studio. All exams must be passed with an 80% score. If a trainee does not pass an exam it may be retaken within two weeks for a $100 exam fee. Other course requirements include 150 hours of observation and 250 hours of practice teaching.
Trainees will also be required to take a 15hr in house anatomy and kinesiology course (August 10th: 5-8pm, August 11th: 2-7pm and August 12th: 10-2pm) prior to the start date or pass an anatomy and kinesiology exam. Basic knowledge in these areas is expected and required before acceptance into the course. Anatomy course fee is $150.
Drawing on almost 20 years of teaching experience, studio owner Amie Baca CPI, LMP and senior instructor Gordon Overbye, CPI will be teaching the course. At Pilates on 10th we believe the Pilates Method is always evolving and it should be accessible to every body. Our teaching is safe and effective and our focus is on building stronger bodies from the inside out. This means deep core focus and increased body awareness. We are skilled at working with many body types and abilities and we are looking forward to sharing our knowledge through our training program.
This course is an excellent way to enhance your Pilates practice, become a certified mat and apparatus teacher and will enable you to teach in any setting, in any studio.
