FAQs
1. If I’m a beginner, should I start with privates or mat?
Private lessons are the best way to learn the Pilates basics. Your instructor will review your goals and your health history with you. They will then teach you the fundamentals: breath, core stabilization and core activation. Once you have a grasp on these concepts group classes will be more beneficial to you. We offer private lessons at a reduced rate in our Introductory Packages.
For those on a budget we also offer beginning mat classes. This is where you would want to start if you would rather opt out of private instruction.
2. What do I need to bring?
For your first session please download our intake form, print it out, fill it out and bring it with you. We provide mats, towels and water.
3. Is there parking?
Yes! We have free parking located behind the building. The entrance is off of Miller St.
4. What do I wear?
Wear comfortable clothes that you can move in. Most people wear yoga type pants, leggings or sweats. Shorts are OK too just make sure they are not too loose. Any T-shirt or tank top will do. It does not have to be form fitting. Most people workout in bare feet, but socks are optional.
5. Do you teach authentic/classical Pilates?
At Pilates on 10th we teach a combination of different styles of Pilates. All of our teachers come from different certification schools. We prefer to blend these types of styles to reflect the various bodies we work with. While most of us do have traditional Pilates training and are well versed in the classical repertoire, we teach in a more contemporary style.
